Let's for a moment assume you are here not just because of my sparkling personality and witty commentary. Maybe you have a lot of weight to lose, maybe just those last 5-10 pounds, maybe you are just looking tone up things that seem to be...ahem...sliding/stretching/flopping/dimpling or missing (lost your belly button, anyone? We'll find it...I promise). Whatever your goal, if you really are committed to changing some habits and sticking with a workout routine, your body is going to change. You could take all your measurements and write it down if you'd like, but I am going to let you in on a little secret...numbers are EVIL. Take it from someone who nearly failed 10th grade math, it's true. Numbers will only confuse you and make you want to smash your head with a frying pan. But denim, ooooh denim...denim is gooood. Denim is very, very, good. There isn't anything better than a good pair of jeans (except for a good pair of soft, stretchy pants) Denim is tried and true, so I want you to go into your closet and find a pair of jeans you don't wear often (or ever). They should be either too small or fit you well but fitted (no 'boyfriend' baggy jeans, puhleez). Got 'em? Excellent. Now put them on and take a photo of yourself in them. Yes, take a photo even if you can't zip them and your pale, winterized, goose flesh is hanging out, just do it! Make sure to tuck your shirt up so you can memorialize you muffin top. Don't suck it in or try to pose flatteringly, that's no fun. This photo is just for you, so do it up right! Remember to follow the golden rule of infomercial 'before' photos and have messy hair, no makeup, bad posture and a miserable look on your face. Take a moment to really notice how the jeans fit-- does the waist fit perfectly, do you have to suck it in to zip them? Are the thighs pulling? Can you sit? Can you breathe? Get it all stored in your brain-- quick before your oxygen supply runs out. Good. Now stick those bad boys back up the closet and put your stretchy pants back on....aaaah...that's much better, isn't it? Alrighty, now do me a favor and forget about those jeans for a while, okay? Don't get freaky on me and start trying them on every day to see how they fit, just LEAVE. IT. ALONE. Here's the point, start focusing on what your really want, which isn't really some arbitrary number on the scale, it's to look unbelievably smokin' in your dang jeans.
Did you eat breakfast? Did ya drink water? What's the soda situation? Have you done the workout I posted? Do it now! I've got another one coming, I promise!
i'm going to go take a picture right now!! that's a great way to think about weightloss, i just want to FIT into my clothes that i haven't worn forever, i want to be able to just throw on a tshirt and not think of a cardigan or double shirt to wear over so i won't see my "goose flesh" ;) i love this approach. And i DID do your workout and was totally sore the next day, but i'm gonna do it again today, i've had a day of rest. ;)
